Hydrocephalus Congenitalis - case report

  Summary:
Congenital hydrocephalus is an anomaly of a central nervous system of heterogeneous aetiology. In the most of the cases it appears in association with genetically factors and environmental factors. We are presenting case of congenital hydrocephalus in a two years old boy child, TM-10,9 kg (P3), TV-88 cm (P25), OG-65 cm (P>97). In this status hard mental retardation is dominant. Child was born from fourth uncontrolled pregnancy. Mother is a Romanian, and has three healthy children from previous marriage. The single examination was performed at the end of pregnancy and congenital hydrocephalus was diagnosed by ultrasound. Male child was born with Tm-3300 gr, Td-51 cm, Og-36 cm. Apgar 7. In the eight day of life child was sent to Belgrade for additional analysis. Cause of disease was depicted as Toxoplasma gondi. A surgical intervention was not indicated.
