Summary: The task of the Public-health
Centre of Zajecar is to ensure substantial quantities of blood needed for
patients treatment in Zajecar hospital, not only for operations but for
other haematological disorders as well. We have analyzed the use of
deplasmatized erythrocytes ( dep. Er ) and fresh frozen plasma ( FFP ) in
the period from 2000. to 2004. in each department. The aim is to see the
use of blood and blood plasma, to define the needs and to point out
certain exceptions to the principle applied in the usual practice, meaning
that a patient is given the blood component he needs at that moment. The
data obtained in thisperiod shows a growing trend in the use of blood and
blood plasma, which can be interpreted in different ways. It is necessary
to improve the cooperation between the staff employed at the clinic and
that in the transfusion department in the future period, as well as to
apply the principles of the component therapy, to increase the use of the
autologous blood compared to the use of the allogeneic one and to ensure
in that way substantial quantities of blood needed for patients treatment.
This will also ensure the production of blood products, which is of
national significance. Key words: Component therapy, deplasmatized Er, fresh frozen plasma
