Summary: Emergency medical service (EMS) system in Belgrade is based on objectivity and equality. A toll free number 94 and Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre are crucial components of this system. A toll free 94 phone call is routed to the EM Dispatch Centre, wherefrom ambulances are dispatched according to the criteria of the Norwegian Index for Medical Emergencies (known as the Index). It is an internationally recognised criteria-based dispatch (CBD) of emergency phone calls to ambulances, which is already adopted and implemented in many countries.
Keywords: emergency medical service, prehospital, Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre, Norwegian Index
