  Summary:
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a primary heart muscle disease characterized by symmetric or asymmetric hypertrophy of the left ventricular myocardium without the presence of any other systemic or heart disease which may cause hypertrophy of the left ventricular myocardium.
The paper dealt with family hypertrophic obstructive and nonobstructive cardiomyopathy in brother, sister and the brother's daughter. The diagnosis was established on the basis of the clinical finding by noninvasive and invasive diagnostic procedures. Complications occurred in the form of congestive heart failure, ischaemic heart disease, heart rhythm disturbances irrespective of the application of an adequate medical and surgical therapy.
Complications aggravated the subjective and objective state of the patient to a considerable degree (brother and sister - lethal outcome).
Key words: Hypertrophic cardiomiopathy, noninvasive and invasive diagnostic of hypertrophic cardiomiopathy.
