      Summary:
The objective of the investigation was to define the effects of the vocal therapy of dysphonia remaining after the surgical treatment of pseudo and benign tumours of the larynx. The investigation included 85 patients having their vocal cords operated for benign lesions, who were submitted to a retrospective study. The subjective perceptual voice analysis by the GIRBAS scale was performed in all the subjects prior to and following the phoniatric treatment. Twenty-six patients were also submitted to the objective computer voice analysis before and after the vocal therapy. The obtained results of both the subjective (p<0.01) and objective acoustic analysis (p<0.01) confirm significantly beneficial effects of the vocal therapy of postoperative dysphonia benign in origin. A satisfactory vocal result after the surgery of benign excrescences on the vocal cords might be achieved by the preventive measures including a preoperative treatment of comorbidities, treatment of functional vocal disorders, utilization of adequate and properly applied instruments, preservation of healthy tissue segments, intervention within the Reinke space where possible, preservation of the cord edge, application of microflap and enucleation techniques, avoidance of a thermic laser effect. Extensive bilateral lesions should be operated in two steps, especially in vocal professionals. In case dysphonia still remains, the vocal therapy significantly improves the voice quality.
Key words: larynx, surgery, dysphonia, vocal therapy
