Summary: Disorders of gallbladder are a major cause of morbidity and leading indication for hospital admissions. The subject of discussion is the aetiology of chronic calculosis cholecystiti. In most patients, they are usually: age, female gender, obesity and heredity. The aim of the study was to evaluate the aetiology of chronic calculosis cholecystitis in patients 14 to 30 years of age surgically treated in the General Hospital, Leskovac and proposal for preventions based on the results. Material and methods: retrospectively reviewed the charts of 30 patients in the period 2008-2010. Results: most surgically treated patients, 28 (93.33%), were female. In the period of hospitalization, 8 (26.67%) patients were 30 years old. Each of the remaining patients (3.33%) was 14, 18, 20, 21 and 22 years old. Obesity had 18 (60%) patients. There were 14 smokers (46.67%). Of 28 women who underwent cholecystectomy, 14 (50%) were pregnant or parited during the period of one year before the surgical treatment. The aetiology of chronic calculus cholecystitis in patients 14 to 30 years of age who were surgically treated in the General Hospital, Leskovac include: age, female gender, obesity and pregnancy. Smoking had no statistical relevance in the occurrence of this condition. The evidence reviewed in this article suggests that the risk of developing gallstone can be reduced in childhood and adolescence by regular body weight control, consuming dietary food and maintaining an ideal body weight.
