Summary: Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a neurological disorder characterised by an irresistible urge to move the legs especially at rest. Symptoms worsen in the evening and night and improve with activity such as walking. Doctors specialized in different clinical fields encounter patients with RLS, but they rarely diagnose it due to being uninformed. Primary RLS types are often familial, while the secondary RLS types are most often caused by pregnancy, uremia, iron deficiency, diabetes, polyneuropathy, the use of certain medications. The diagnosis is based on international diagnostic criteria. The treatment is based on the use of dopaminergic agents, opioids, anticonvulsants and benzodiazepines. Key words: Restless legs syndrome – diagnosis, drug therapy Napomena: kompletan tekst rada na srpskom jeziku Note: full text in Serbian |
