| Summary: Introduction: as late as at the period of the Great Roman Empire, Bela Palanka was on the main road to Constantinople - Via militaris. This place has always had an eventful past. There have been a lot of intellectuals in different fields of science. One of these was dr Dimitrije Mita Zlatanović. The aim of the study: the aim of our study is to present to the people of science the development of health-care in Bela Palanka and also with the successful work of dr Dimitrije Zlatanović. Materials and methods: in our work, we used the literature about the development of health-care history published on the territory of Bela Palanka and Niš, as well as original books written by dr Dimitrije Zlatanović. Results: Reading the literature on the history of Bela Palanka and the two books of dr Zlatanović, we found out that his career was very successful. Soon after finishing his specialization in dental diseases at the Faculty of Stomatology, Belgrade he started with publishing. Having returned to his birth place Bela Palanka he soon got a lot of patients as well as followers. In fact, there was a growing number of young people who started being fond of dentistry. In order to facilitate their studying and practice he began working on two books, which are even today considered to be of great significance. Conclusion: in the long history of health-care in Bela Palanka, the name of dr Dimitrije Zlatanović is written in capital letter. He had both public and private practice; he acquired people’s confidence and managed to interest a lot of young people for dentistry. It was because of them that he decided to work hard and write two instruction books. Despite the fact that the author modestly entitled them Booklets for Practitioners, they both were really important. Both of them got a special place in the history of stomatology in Serbia because they inspired a lot of doctors-to-be and later generations who studied stomatology at separate faculties later on in much better conditions.
