| Summary: Chronic
lower limb ischemia represent important segment in vascular surgery
as well in medicine too. Sociological aspect should be regarded,
especially considering possible invalidity as result of treatment.
That is why knowledge of general practitioner at the field of
chronic ischemia, its natural course, risk factors and treatment are
essential. Crucial issues are clinical picture, diagnostic
algorithm, conservative and surgical treatment. Multidisciplinary
approach is obvious, with vascular surgeon is only the last in the
chain of reactions, and general practitioner provides the most. That
is why his role demands proper education including most important
facts on clinical picture and treatment of chronic occlusive
disease. Key words: lower extremity chronic ischemia, invalidity, clinical picture, treatment
