| Summary: With a three-minute Harvard step test 80 eight-form students of "Ljuba Nešić" primary school from Zaječar were tested with the aim to establish their physical readiness after winter vacation, when children are physically inactive spending time in front of a TV and a computer. By means of this step test and according to heart frequency, students were sorted in categories of physical readiness: excellent, average, below average, poor and very poor. In addition, the aim of this study was also to identify differences in physical readiness between boys and girls and between students who were involved in sports and those who did not practice any. The results showed that students were of very poor physical readiness, that there were no differences in physical readiness between the genders and between students who were involved in sports and those who did not practice any. The conclusion of this research is that students are physically inactive during winter vacation; physical readiness of students is very poor and measures should be taken to improve their physical readiness.
